I offer three levels of support:

Type 1: Outlining & Planning

This is for those who have an outline for a novel and want to get the structure right before launching into the first draft. Send me your outline and I will read and assess it, then send you a detailed report of my thoughts and suggestions. Once you have read that, we will have a one hour brainstorming session (via phone or zoom) to sort out any glitches. You can then send me your revised outline and I’ll assess and send you a final report with my thoughts on what is or isn’t working.

Cost: £225

Type 2: Manuscript Appraisal

The appraisal takes an in-depth look at your work, which can result in anything from minor tweaks to a major rewrite, so do be prepared for that. It’s for writers who have written at least a full first draft and want to get the structure and content fixed before working on the next draft. The appraisal report is particularly useful for ‘pantsers’ with an unplotted early draft. Send me your manuscript. I will read it and compile an in-depth report covering character arcs, pacing, plot, structure, genre fit, voice etc. You then have a month to read the report, during which time you can send me up to two emails with any queries you might have arising from the report’s findings.

Cost: £7 per 1,000 words

Type 3: Full Structural Report

This is for those who have worked through the drafting and redrafting process, and now want to get the manuscript ready for submitting. It’s for when you’ve done all you can do, and you now need another set of eyes on it to make sure the story is delivering, the character arcs are as strong as they can be, and the plot is holding together. With this package, as well as sending you an in-depth appraisal report, I will also make in-line suggestions on the first 5,000 words, highlighting any issues I think need addressing. You’ll get up to one month to read and address the report and book a one hour telephone or zoom consultation with me to discuss any queries you might have.

Cost: £9 per 1,000 words
